Clutter, Clutter Everywhere! Here's how to get ahead of the mess

As many of you many know, my husband and I moved to my Mom s old house in the fall of last year.  Renovating during a pandemic had it s challenges from shortages of supplies, to quarantining of our renovation team, to delays of inspections.  Thankfully that is all behind us now, but we have a garage full of stuff that still needs to be organized, gone through, or just disposed of!
January is Get Organized Month, so last weekend, James and I started with one room of the house.  Our goal was to get just one room completely finished, from top to bottom. ....

It is a new year and people could still be in a mood of re-organising their lives; some through resolutions such as building a home or moving out of their parent’s house. But regardless  of the place one stays, there are tendencies that ought to have stayed in years before this. The commonest of these is clutter, especially in the bedroom.

How to Win the War Against Clutter

Jan. 12, 2021 2:57 pm ET
To conquer the clutter in our homes we must also be ready to deal with the many emotions buried in it, says Jes Marcy, a professional organizer in Poestenkill, N.Y. Ms. Marcy leads online classes on how to get rid of unnecessary items and on social media runs a private support group for people trying to organize their homes, a process that can be fraught with stress, guilt, resentment and grief, she says.
Ms. Marcy tells clients that when they start to unclutter their homes of physical possessions they inevitably will find connections to emotional, financial and relationship issues in their lives, too. “It’s all clutter and it’s all connected,” she says. ....

Dear Mother: Life in a Little House | Mother Earth News

For the past few years, each spring I do a mini-fundraiser and sell veggie starts to promote growing your own food. This year, I donated the money to Open Table, which helps feed those in need. The year before, I donated the money to the animal shelter from which we rescued one of our dogs. It’s nothing big, but every little thing counts. In my town, I work to promote growing your own food to be more self-sufficient and sustainable. I also advocate for bees and other pollinators. I photograph bees and other pollinators in my garden, and I have a little collection going. Some of my photos hung in a local coffee shop for a month with facts about bees, including their decline and how we can help them. I also left free seeds for people to plant. ....

How to Organize Your Home for a Brighter 2021

How to Organize Your Home for a Brighter 2021
As we look ahead to (hopefully) greener pastures, one thing is more evident than ever before: Our home environments matter, and in fact they play a major role in the general productivity and satisfaction levels of our everyday lives. What’s more, they prescribe or at least reflect the state of our minds and well-being: If chaos and clutter are our constant companions, their byproducts stress and anxiety promise to arrive uninvited, too.
If it took 2020’s barrage of upheavals to reveal the lack of organization and order in your home, you’re not alone. According to a survey of 2,000 homeowners by online interior design company Modsy, the pandemic made 60 percent of respondents realize their homes were disorganized, and 77 percent were so stressed by their at-home surroundings that they undertook DIY redesign projects. ....
