Winston-Salem police have identified the human remains found Saturday in a car submerged in Winston Lake as those of Dedrick Bernard Smith, authorities said Wednesday.
Police worked with "Adventures with Purpose” to pull a car from a lake where they found the remains of a man missing since 2006
The family of Dedrick Bernard Smith, 26, reported him missing on Oct. 4, 2006. He was last heard from on that date, during a phone call, police said.
Human remains were found in the car, which authorities believe Dedrick Bernard Smith, 26, was driving when he went missing.
A 1993 Pontiac Grand Am possibly driven by Dedrick Smith was found at the bottom of Winston Lake Park. Dedrick Smith has been missing for 16 years.
