A grand ceremony was held in Rode, ancestral village of late Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, for ‘dastarbandi’ (turban-wearing) of Amritpal. He was dressed up as Bhindranwale, in a long white kurta over short loose pants, a blue turban, a Kirpan. The letter pad did not contain the name of any office-bearer of WPD, only a stamp of WPD. It had pictures of Deep Sidhu and Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale but no signatures of any office-bearers.
The controversial preacher made headlines when in late February he led a sword and gun-wielding mob of supporters that attacked a police station in Ajnala.
