Covid Vaccination Drive: India Vaccinates Over 15 Lakh In A Week After Slow Start

1.46 lakh people were vaccinated on Saturday in 3,368 sessions, according to the Health Ministry.
New Delhi:
Nearly 16 lakh people have been vaccinated since January 16, when the mass inoculation drive against COVID-19 was launched, with 10 lakh taking vaccine shots in just six days, a count which is higher than that of countries like the US and the UK, the Health Ministry said today.
The UK took 18 days whereas the US took 10 days to reach the 10 lakh mark, the government said.
15.82 lakh people have been vaccinated in 27,920 sessions so far, of which 1.91 lakh people were vaccinated on Saturday (in 3,512 sessions) alone, according to the Health Ministry.

New Delhi, Jan 21 : The update in Co-WIN application has led a huge impact on the immunisation figures in the fourth session of Covid vaccination drive conducted in the national capital on Thursday. Many government hospitals which were struggling to achieve even 30 per cent of their target, have crossed the halfway mark now.
The Delhi government's Lok Nayak Hospital achieved 100 per cent of their inoculation target before the end of Thursday's session. "The 100th dose was administered around 3.15 p.m.," said Dr Anil Gupta, vaccination coordinator at the hospital.

"Once COVID-19 Vaccine Vial Opened, It Needs To Be Used Fully Within Four Hours", Say Doctors

There are strict protocols for storage, transportation, usage of the vaccine: Doctors (Representational)
New Delhi:
A vial of COVID-19 vaccine once opened for inoculation needs to be fully used within four hours, else the remaining doses go waste and need to be destroyed, senior doctors said on Tuesday.
The first batch of Oxford COVID-19 Covishield vaccine had reached Delhi's central storage facility at Rajiv Gandhi Super Specialty Hospital (RGSSH) on January 12.
The lot of Bharat Biotech-made Covaxin had reached there the next day, which is being used at six sites, including AIIMS and RML Hospital.
RGSSH is also one of the 75 sites where Covishield shots are being administered to doctors, nurses and other beneficiaries. Forty-five shots were given on day one and 20 on day two.

New Delhi, Jan 20 : The government has updated the Co-WIN application and allowed the vaccination sites to manually add the beneficiaries expected to undergo the inoculation exercise, who earlier, were randomly picked by the application itself.
The latest tweak in the app is expected to increase the turnout at the government hospitals who are struggling to reach even the half-way mark of their vaccination target.

On Day 2, less than 50% beneficiaries receive shots- The New Indian Express

NEW DELHI: The second day of Covid vaccination drive in the national capital failed to achieve even half the day’s target as only 3,598 beneficiaries received the jab against the government’s goal of inoculating 8,100. According to the Delhi government, only 44 per cent of the targeted health workers received the vaccines on Monday. However, the state’s figure didn’t match with that of the central government. As per the Union Health Ministry, only 3,111 beneficiaries received their dose in Delhi on Monday.
On Saturday, which was the first day of the pan-India vaccination, as many as 4,319 beneficiaries had received the shot in the city. While no vaccination was carried out on Sunday, the tally on Monday dropped by 721 compared to Saturday’s figure.
