DELPHOS Jefferson High school hosted a Career Day on May 6.
The day started with the freshmen showcasing their 10-year plan. They created poster boards, portfolios and resumes to present to during mock interviews. These mock interviews were conducted by area organization/businessmen and women and community leaders.
Following the mock interviews, the whole school participated in a Career Fair featuring 25 businesses and keynote speakers Karen Grothouse and Krendl. The businesses included Superior Credit Union, D&D Ingredients, Schrader Realty, Spallinger Millwright, Vantage, Wannemacher Total Logistics, Edward Jones, Dick Clark Real Estate, Knippe ....

Ohio Lt. Gov. Jon Husted has been traveling across the state this week visiting vocational schools to talk about In-Demand Jobs Week. One of his stops was at Vantage Career Center on Friday during an event that underscored the benefits of being prepared for the next step in life.

Council races, Council on Aging levies on primary ballot

Tuesday, May 4, is Primary Election Day in Ohio this year. Ballot issues are slim this year, with two Van Wert City Council primary races and two replacement levies sought by the Van Wert County Council on Aging. Republican voters will decide both City Council primary races, as the only Democrats running are unopposed in the primary.
Heading the City Council races is a two-person race for the president of Council position now held by Jon Tomlinson, who is not running for re-election. Both of the candidates seeking to replace Tomlinson have previous political experience.
Kirby Kelly, served two terms on City Council in the last decade, while the other candidate, Jerry Mazur, is a former City Council member, Council president, and mayor. ....

DELPHOS George Mox, of Delphos, owns this 40’s and 50’s sprint car. The car was originally owned by George Place, of Delphos. Place was in the middle of restoring the car when he passed away on Oct. 11, 2014, at the age of 93. At that time, Place had straightened the frame, but that was it; the car was in pieces. ....
