Et relies on man, not being on earth. we need a backup plan. he manifested that. what s really interesting is, yes, how did he do all this? because of amazon. amazon made him the richest man in the world. but amazon is not his passion. space is. what was interesting when i said to him, space has always been your passion, now is it going to be your life s work, he said without a doubt. there was no mention of amazon. there was no mention of e-commerce, retail. and he set his mind to change ing the retail business and one of the three of us right now probably has an amazon in front of our front doors. he changed retail. he could be in a moment where he changes space. a couple amazon boxes. steph, first of all, just to see the two brothers interacting for all of us that has a kid brother, that dynamic is so genuine. i loved your question about what mark is going to get him for christmas. you have to wonder what can mark ever get jeff bezos for christmas that he doesn t already have. but ....

i can say it s about making sure we have the capacity for travel within the next 100 dwreerz years. that s building capability that we can use here on earth. it s not about the launch. it s about using space as a radical plat tomorrow to really push us. the dream of space exploration is not new. it s something that has been part of humanity since we were here. we looked up at the stars and wondered what they were. we have it all want odd to go, but there was part of who we are. and so i think it s something that moves forward. this is another chapter. but i also would like to add that everything that we re seeing today, a really wonderful ....

Right balance between taking care of homeless individuals, between helping people with s.t.e.m. education, between making science and astronauts more inclusive, and having missions into space. what is offensive he thinks a few people like him get to make these societal decisions. no, we live in a democracy. democracies get to decide the balance. let me share with you a bit of the libertarian perspective here from an op-ed responds to the criticism you re making writing the irony is that nasa takes our money to finance a space program that no ordinary citizen could ever hope to access yet when branson, musk and bezos spend their own wealth with the explicit goal of one day elg ever-cheaper tickets to allcomers, that is when congressmen get grumpy. i m not saying you re the congressman they re talking about but alluding to the pushback you re talking about here. what say you? last i heard cost $28 million. ....

I don t see how that s democratizing access to space. if they want to argue nasa should try to open up space flights to the american people, let s have that conversation and we can try to democratize access to the space program in a responsible way. my problem is, why do bezos and a few of his friends get to make these decisions, and why are they using money that should have been used to pay taxes? that s offensive. congressman roh khanna, thanks for joining us on this special coverage of the blue orin launch. coming up, we ll hear directly from jeff bezos and more plus the rest of the crew live. we re also going to talk with somebody who has been on four space shuttle missions, with what this really means for the future of space travel. that s coming up. ....

Specialists, don t have to be pilots or scientists. they can be people who want to get the shift in the way they see the planet. i was in space with peggy. we broke bread at 17,500 miles per hour with russians, germans, french, african-american, asian-american, and i think space we all have the technological things that are wonderful to see. the other thing is the human connection that we have, from people all around the world and i think we can bring that back down to the planet, so that we can get along better, using that view of space. that is often an optimistic vision and i hear you when you talk about wanting to democratize space. you re right, you don t have to be as we re seeing today a scientist and long time veteran to get into space but you do in all likelihood have to be really, really rich, which is not sort of the most democratic way to be talking about space tourism, maybe what needs to happen based on the business ....
