NCU and HelioX to partner for mission

National Central University (NCU) is to partner with HelioX Cosmos Co and other local businesses to develop a scientific payload to be part of an international mission to the moon in 2023, the university said on Monday.
NCU president Jou Jing-yang (周景揚) signed a memorandum of understanding with HelioX Cosmos founder Bill Chang (張懷謙) via teleconference, the university said in a news release.
It would be Taiwan’s first mission to deep space and the moon, it said.
The mission would be the second collaboration between the institution and the start-up, following a partnership to launch the Ionospheric Dynamics Explorer and Attitude Subsystem Satellite (IDEASSat), a cubesat launched by SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket on a rideshare mission on Jan. 24. ....

Launch site issues force rocket firm overseas: sources

The lack of an approved launch site in the nation has forced Taiwan Innovative Space Inc to turn to Australia to launch a research rocket, sources familiar with the matter have said.
Some Taiwan Innovative Space employees departed for Australia in February to complete quarantine and preparatory procedures prior to trial launches this month, a person said on condition of anonymity.
Australian space company Southern Launch would help Taiwan Innovative Space launch its sounding rocket at a site near Adelaide, South Australia, another person with knowledge of the matter said. ....

Ground stations yet to hear from new cubesats

The local research teams that developed two cubesats launched by a Space Exploration Technologies Corp’s (SpaceX) Falcon 9 rocket at 11pm on Sunday are dealing with signal reception problems at their ground stations.
The Transporter-1 mission launched 143 satellites the most ever deployed on a single mission from the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida, after being delayed three times due to technical problems or unfavorable weather.
Taiwan’s two cubesats are the YuSat, designed to monitor road and maritime traffic, and the Ionospheric Dynamics Explorer and Attitude Subsystem Satellite (IDEASSat), designed for ionospheric observation. ....
