⢠The City of Rainsville annual spring cleanup begins Friday, May 28 through Wednesday, June 30, 2021. The city will have roll-off dumpsters placed behind the city shop for residents served by the City of Rainsville Sanitation Department to utilize free of charge. Proof of services via a sanitation bill is required and the dumpster will be open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays. If you have any questions contact the Rainsville City Hall at 256-638-6331. ⢠The American Cruisers Chapter 49 its hosting its Captain Jack Memorial Run on May 8, rain or shine. Cost is $20 per bike, $10 per rider and $10 for extra hand. Sign-ups start at 10 a.m. the day of. Kickstand go up at 11:30 a.m. starts from NYMD in Fort Payne and ending at the ACMC 49 clubhouse in Powell. The Rainsville City Council on Monday held public hearings to discuss the rezoning of Ranch Road, Peaceful Acres subdivision and Britany Owens subdivision. Mayor Rodger Lingerfelt said notices were sent out to adjoining land residents and opened the floor for discussion. Housing partners John McCallie and Carlton W. Edwards of Scottsboro attended the hearing with an interest in the rezoning of Ranch Road from M-1 Industrial to R-3 Residential. âWe have a contract to purchase this property and have requested the rezoning,â said McCallie. âOur purchase of the properties contingent with the Alabama Boys and Girls Sheriff Ranches. He said they plan on building a âlittle bit more upper scale homesâ on larger size lots. ....
DeKalb County Sheriff Nick Welden said earlier this week that nine corrections officers were out of work, sick with COVID-19, and another five were quarantined. Welden said there are additional cases of COVID-19 among jail inmates, but that any inmates who are sick are being given proper care by the jail s medical staff. If a patient s condition is something the jail medical staff cannot handle, Welden said during a press conference, Guess what? We take them for outside care. The purpose of Tuesday s press conference seemed to be to scuttle talk that inmates with COVID-19 were going without treatment in the jail. Welden said he could not give the number of inmates in the jail who ve contracted the coronavirus, indicating that was a question for the health department. ....
