MEMBERS of Norton Town Council have urged people to adhere to the current rules around Covid-19. At their monthly meeting, councillors said that with more shops and workplaces open than in the first lockdown, there were more people moving around in the community. THE first patients in Pickering have received the Covid-19 vaccine. 'Momentous' day as first covid-19 vaccines take place in Ryedale

THE first coronavirus vaccinations took place in Ryedale today (Tuesday) in what was described as a “momentous” and “historic” day. Jack and Nina Ashton, from Malton, who have been married for nearly 65 years, were the first to receive the vaccine at Derwent Practice at 9.20am. First coronavirus vaccinations get underway

THE first coronavirus vaccinations are now underway in North Yorkshire. This morning Jack and Nina Ashton, from Malton, were the first to receive the vaccine at Derwent Practice in Norton at 9.20am. Nina said: "Jack is 87 and I am 83, so we were delighted when we were told we could have the vaccine. "We have been sensible and followed the rules and it will be nice to be able to see our family and get back to normal." Mrs Ashton said: "I was shocked at how quickly the jab happened. It didn't hurt at all and was a very comfortable procedure.
