Evelyn Jean Garmoe, 92, of New London, died Monday, November 7, 2022 at New London Specialty Care. She was born August 31, 1930 in Burlington, Iowa to Clarence John and Dora Phyllis Harper Weigert. She was a graduate of New London High School and a member of the New London United Methodist Church. Evelyn spent 67 years working for the New London Journal, beginning at age 16 and later becoming office manager and editor retiring in 2015. She loved visiting with the townspeople and writing the news for the paper. She enjoyed watching football, being with her grandkids and family, talking with friends, playing bingo, collecting elephants, and loved her cat Patches. Survivors include her daughter Debbie Titus of Burlington; grandchildren Tara (Andy) Sterba of Riverside and Tony Titus of Maple Park, Illinois; and great-grandchildren Cecelia and Alex Sterba and Gianna Titus. Her parents and brother Richard preceded her in death. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, November 1 ....
