FOREST GROVE, Ore. – After a lengthy stretch of no competition, Big Bend Community College Women's Wrestling traveled to Pacific University to Compete in the Boxer Open on Sunday. The break was long and frustrating for the athletes but allowed the Vikings to gain much-needed rest to get to 100% health.
MOSES LAKE – BBCC hosted the first and final tournament with the Big Bend Scramble. Only having one athlete place the previous weekend, the Vikes hoped to take strides in the right direction at the Devries Activity Center.
MOSES LAKE – Big Bend’s newest women’s wrestling coach Desiree Zavala is a Washington native who comes to the program with goals of competing at the national level.
“I’m very excited,” Zavala said. “I think that Big Bend has all the resources need to have a great team. A couple years ago they were national champions, so I am coming into a team that needs a lot of growth but has a lot of opportunities. I’m excited about that.”
