Public transit is growing in metro Detroit, getting a major boost with the city's new hub opening at the historic Michigan State Fair Grounds.
“DDOT continues to hire additional operators to reach its target of 600, including another graduating class of nearly 60 new drivers next month,” according to a city news release.
More money will hopefully lead to more drivers. The city is aiming to hire 200 more drivers by the end of the year.
Detroit is celebrating installing 10,000 speed humps as of Wednesday, Oct. 11. Speed humps began as a limited pilot in 2018, but the initiative has since expanded as speed humps grew in popularity among residents.
Plans for the old dairy cattle barn include building a sleek and modern new bus station that could become a central hub for Detroit transit.
