Santa Barbara County's Q1 cannabis tax revenue hits $4.2M, year-over-year increase of 50% | Government and Politics


Cannabis tax income continues to climb in Santa Barbara County, with revenue hitting $4.2 million in the first quarter of the 2020-21 fiscal year, a 50% increase from the $2.8 million reported from the first quarter of 2019-20, according to a report to the Board of Supervisors.
The county is reviewing 23 applications for retail storefront licenses from six community plan areas, and nine of the 12 cultivators that were operating in existing developed rural neighborhoods have shut down after supervisors approved an ordinance amendment banning them from those areas, according to the report.
Enforcement operations are eliminating the large illegal cultivation operations, the report said, but more needs to be done to address small illegal operations. ....

The city council of Everett, Washington approved the Rethink Zoning ordinance in November, ushering in a suit of zoning changes designed to simplify the land use code and encourage urban infill development under one Unified Development Code.

Coalville City Council Votes Approval For Wohali Development 2.0

Following nearly a year of controversy, the Coalville City Council has granted an approval for a second version of the Wohali residential/resort development west of Interstate 80.
The Council unanimously voted Monday night for a proposed rural golf resort community, with 125 residential lots and 303 nightly rentals.
The Council vote gave a Master Plan Development and Phase One Preliminary Subdivision Plat approval to Wohali.
The community debate over the property goes back to 2018, when it was annexed by the city.
The developers proposed a mixed-use project of over 1660 acres calling for a Zone Map Amendment.  It was approved by the Coalville Council a year ago.    But after a citizens group launched a referendum effort, the applicants went back to the drawing board. ....
