Summary
A new requirement for Fire Statements to be submitted with certain planning applications for high rise residential buildings and for the HSE to be consulted on such applications is intended to take effect from 1 August 2021.
The Building Safety Bill (“the Bill”) that was published last year and introduced to parliament in this week’s Queen’s speech will make substantial reforms to the UK’s building and fire safety regime.
Amongst other aspects, it will create a new ‘Gateway’ regime to ensure that fire safety risks are considered at each stage of a building’s design and construction.
The first ‘Gateway’ applies at the planning stage and will affect certain planning applications by imposing new mandatory requirements to ensure that fire safety is considered early on in the development process. ....

This Direction is made under the Town and Country Planning (Development Management Procedure) (England) Order 2015 (Statutory Instrument 2015 No 595) and came into force on 21 April 2021.
It requires local planning authorities in England to consult the Secretary of State before granting planning permission for certain types of development.

Government wants more time to review Bramley-Moore Dock Stadium

A decision on Everton s proposed 52,888-seat stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock has been delayed after the Government requested more time to review the project.
The club s planning application was approved unanimously by Liverpool City Council last month but due to the scale of the £500m scheme is awaiting a final green light from Westminster. Due to its scale, Secretary of State for Housing and Development, Robert Jenrick, has asked for an extension to the initial 21-day scrutiny period in order to fully consider the plan.
