For many of us, the past 14 months have felt like a Zack Snyder superhero movie: grey, dour, and devoid of any warmth or joy. It’s fitting then that Snyder’s first post-DCEU outing is a colorful blast of high-energy violence and pulp. Having exorcised his demons in Zack Snyder’s Justice League, the director returns to his zombie roots with Army of the Dead, a film that may just be his best one yet. While I appreciate what Snyder has done with superhero films and the DCEU, I’ve always preferred his first film, 2004’s Dawn of the Dead remake. Army of The Dead takes place in zombie-infested Las Vegas that is walled from the rest of the world. Army of the Dead early reactions praise bloody zombie thrills May 10, 2021 by: ARMY OF THE DEADhits theaters this Friday ahead of its streaming debut on Netflix. The trailers have given us an indication that Snyder is returning to his Dawn of the Deadremake roots with his latest effort and it looks like his return to form may be a winner because early social media reactions for the film have been very positive. Many of the reactions are praising Army of the Dead for being an extremely fun ride that brings together all the right elements to make an entertaining zombie-action hybrid. The opening sequence, in particular, is getting high notices so far on social media and while there are some early reviews that think Snyder could ve cut the runtime and that it meanders a bit, the vast majority think that fans will definitely like what they see.
