These awards identify and recognize individuals who demonstrate special dedication to student achievement and who are successful in their teaching. Recipients were selected via nomination and reviewed by a selection committee based in the UK Provost’s Office for Faculty Advancement and the Center for the Enhancement of Learning and Teaching.
The University of Kentucky Office of Nationally Competitive Awards has announced that four students have been offered Fulbright U.S. Student Program scholarships to travel abroad to teach, study or pursue research for the 2023-24 academic year.
This year, the University of Kentucky Center for the Enhancement of Learning and Teaching has facilitated a learning community of graduate students and teaching postdoctoral scholars focused on designing and implementing scholarship of teaching and learning, or SoTL, projects. Spanning disciplinary and methodological frameworks, SoTL seeks to understand the effects of curricular design and instructional strategies as well as the nature of student learning experiences in and across specific contexts.
In his short time producing "What's Next," Mario Maitland has interviewed an impressive number of guests — from music executive Stephon Dupree to professional athletes, such as former UK women’s basketball standout Rhyne Howard, clothing designers, physicians and more. “We see a lot of advertisements, shows, news — but what we barely find is authenticity,” he said. “A real story that makes us think, change and better ourselves.”
To celebrate Women’s History Month, a planning committee, which includes UK Martin Luther King Center's undergraduate interns and campus partners, will host a variety of events for the campus community to participate in titled Womxn’s HERStory Month.
