BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The City of Bakersfield, in partnership with Dignity Health Bakersfield, will honor those healthcare workers who have been called to care during the COVID-19 pandemic through the Operation White Lights campaign.
Mayor Karen Goh, on behalf of the City of Bakersfield, will make a proclamation declaring Friday, January 15 “Operation White Lights Day,” and the city will light up the tree at Centennial Plaza in all white lights in support of the campaign.
“Everyone who works in health care has demonstrated unwavering courage in the face of this pandemic,” says Robin Mangarin-Scott, Vice President of Marketing and Communications for Dignity Health Central California. “Their strength and humanity is a light of hope for so many patients and families impacted by COVID-19. Operation White Lights is a way to lift up our healers and let them know the community cares about them.” ....

Dignity Health Bakersfield CEO Ken Keller said the California Department of public health let hospitals know the day before Thanksgiving that they had until this last Monday to create a plan to be able to test employees on a weekly basis.
