The Railway Children told the story of a mother and her three children who move to the Yorkshire countryside after their father is falsely imprisoned. The book, written by E Nesbit, was originally published in 1906.

Studiocanal officials announced on Thursday that principal photography on the sequel will begin on 10 May, more than 50 years after the original film, and The Avengers actress will be reprising her role as Roberta Bobbie Waterbury. The Railway Children Return will also star Sheridan Smith and Sir Tom Courtenay as well as a new generation of railway children , according to the announcement.
