SUFFOLK Thirty years ago, a Suffolk mayor traveled to the Deep South to defend his city's peanut honor. During a visit timed around peanut festival season, Mayor Andrew Damiani rode down Main Street in Dothan, Ala., with a banner proclaiming that Suffolk was the peanut capital of the world, in a town that claimed the same.
