WESTPORT When selectman candidate Walter Moniz began knocking on doors in February to talk with residents and businesses about his candidacy, he was a bit taken aback when some residents questioned if he lives in town a requirement for candidacy. Moniz is running in a three-person race for two seats held currently by Ann Boxler and Richard Brewer. There will also be a race for a Housing Authority seat: incumbent Veronica Beaulieu will face off against challenger Richard Ziomek at the April 13 Annual Town Election. On Tuesday, Moniz and his campaign manager, former Selectman Craig Dutra, set out to squelch residency rumors and stay ahead of what Dutra called “a whisper campaign” against Moniz. They held a press event on the lawns of 63 Prospect Ave. within Westport Harbor, a stone mansion that is a six-home condominium development: Pondmeadow Condominiums. ....
