The Pipeline and Hayfire fires are burning near Flagstaff, Arizona.
Authorities say the Haywire Fire and Double Fire have merged, burning over 4,000 acres in the Coconino National Forest.
The Coconino County Board of Supervisors Monday declared a State of Emergency due to the impacts of the Pipeline Fire burning near Flagstaff on the San Francisco Peaks. A man arrested in connection with the fire made his first court appearance, claiming he lit toilet paper on fire and put it under a rock, not realizing it would smolder all night.
Forest officials said the Double Fire was first reported Sunday afternoon and is expected to eventually combine with the Haywire Fire.
The Double Fire is burning about two miles south/southwest of the Haywire Fire, east of the Pipeline Fire, according to officials with the Coconino National Forest.
