By Bulawayo Correspondent MEMBERS of the MDC Veterans Activists Association (VAA) have joined civil society organisations and opposition parties in condemning the Douglas Mwonzora-led MDC-T for supporting Zanu PF in passing the controversial Amendment Bill Number 2 last week. Some MDC-T senators last Tuesday joined hands with their Zanu PF colleagues and traditional leaders in voting for the Second Amendment Bill. It was signed into law by President Emmerson Mnangagwa Friday and is now part of the Constitution. However, civil society organisations, opposition parties, lawyers, and ordinary Zimbabweans have been very vocal in rejecting the amendments, arguing some of the changes, like the removal of the presidential running mate clause, were draconian. ....

‘Erroneously’ recalled Lupane councillor yet to assume duty BY NQOBANI NDLOVU A LUPANE councillor is yet to officially assume his duty following an “erroneous” recall from the Kusile Rural District Council (KRDC) by the opposition MDC-T party last year, Southern Eye has learnt. June Mpofu, a Matshiya ward 15 councillor, was recalled from council on September 11 on grounds that he was a member of the MDC Alliance. Mpofu denied the claims, insisting he belonged to the Welshman Ncube-led MDC. He was recalled alongside Thabani Dube of ward 19 in Lupane. The MDC-T reversed the recalls in February after acknowledging that the opposition party had made a mistake. ....
By Staff Reporter AT LEAST 200 Bulawayo MDC Alliance supporters are reported to have reversed their recent decision to defect to the Douglas Mwonzora-led MDC-T and retraced their footsteps to the Nelson Chamisa-led outfit. The MDC Alliance claims the defections took place last Sunday and the returnees accused Mwonzora of indirectly forcing them to join the ruling Zanu PF. In Bulawayo, a number of MDC Alliance legislators and councillors have reportedly survived recalls from Parliament and the city council by either cutting deals with Mwonzora’s MDC or crossing the floor and joining the rival faction. However, the MDC Alliance Bulawayo province said over 200 former party members had trooped back to Chamisa Sunday as they were angered that Mwonzora was now dining with Zanu PF. ....
