Shelby school board considers renewal levy for November ballot SHELBY - Residents could see a 4.5-mill renewal of an emergency levy on the November ballot. Shelby Superintendent Tim Tarvin brought up the matter at Monday's board of education meeting. He said the levy, which has been in place since 1987, generates $950,000 a year. The man was taken to the hospital after he was shot; police haven’t said anything about his condition. According to police, officers conducted a welfare check on a potentially armed and suicidal man at the west end of Seneca Drive.
