Boston researchers played key role in Johnson & Johnson vaccine development
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has issued emergency use authorization for Johnson & Johnson's COVID-19 vaccine, which was developed in part by researchers at a Boston hospital.The Johnson & Johnson vaccine is the first single-dose vaccine to be approved by the FDA and becomes the third vaccine to be granted emergency use authorization, following Pfizer's and Moderna's vaccines.Dr. Dan Barouch, director of the Center for Virology and Vaccine Research at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, is among the local researchers who were instrumental in the development of the J&J vaccine."...
