BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - Alabamaâs mask order will expire on Friday at 5 p.m., unless Gov. Kay Ivey intervenes.
Leaders in Texas and Mississippi have announced they are lifting mask mandates in their states. And health experts here are concerned about what that could mean for the pandemic.
Gov. Iveyâs press secretary said Governor Ivey has made it clear that she prefers personal responsibility to government mandates. She said Ivey is optimistic that our state is heading in the right direction, and we still have some work to be done.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - The state of Alabama has reached another grim milestone in the coronavirus pandemic with more than 6,000 deaths reported in the state.
6,030 families have lost loved ones in less than one year here in Alabama, and to put that into perspective, one doctor said thatâs almost as many people who died in the six years of World War II.
He said in order to prevent more people from dying of COVID-19, more drastic measures need to be taken.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - The distribution of vaccines so far, has been focused mainly on adults, but clinical trials for COVID-19 vaccines for children may begin soon.
Dr. Anthony Fauci has said drug companies may start testing their vaccines on children as early as January. In fact, Moderna announced in early December that it would soon begin pediatric clinical trials with kids aged 12 to 17. But that could be tricky because children have shown different reactions to COVID-19 than adults.
