DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — A long stretch of hot, dry weather has left the Mississippi River so low that barge companies are reducing their loads just as Midwest farmers

It has been so long since there was rain that it’s starting to pose problems on area waterways, including the mighty Mississippi River.

Day of lag. there's areas that we're looking at major flooding getting into northern vermont. 20 feet of river level that is double where the levels are. that is enough that will cause real problems. the other weather story is what is happening back across the midwest and the plains states. you're looking at a risk of seeing storms in kansas, nebraska. stretching from texas, getting you up in to the great lakes states, areas where you can see severe weather. currently have a couple of severe thunderstorms out there. this will intensify. this is being driven by extreme heat. the biggest concern...
