POPLARVILLE, Miss. – Despite having to wait nearly half a day to play due to weather, LSU Eunice used a dominant effort in relief and timely hits to score an 8-5 victory over East Central in the Region 23 Tournament on Monday at Dub Herring Stadium.
The Bengals’ playoff opener was delayed six hours due to inclement weather on the opening day of the six-team tournament.
After East Central plated the first run of the game on sacrifice grounder, LSUE jumped ahead using three hits, a walk and a hit by pitch.

POPLARVILLE, Miss. (PRCC Athletics) - No. 7 Pearl River found two different ways to sweep archrival Gulf Coast on Wednesday at Dub Herring Park. After rallying late to claim a pitcherâs duel in the opener 2-1 in 10 innings, Pearl River then put together two huge innings in Game 2 to take a 10-6 victory and secure the second sweep of MGCCC on the season.
âIâm proud of our guys,â Pearl River coach Michael Avalon said. âThis is a rivalry series for us. Those guys threw their best punch at us and I was proud that we handled it and found a way to win two games.â
