Area flood warnings extended as Ohio River continues to rise
EVANSVILLE, Ind. — The Ohio River continued rising Thursday, reaching the Evansville flood stage of 42 feet a day earlier than expected, covering low-lying areas and closing many area roads. Just above Henderson, the river had reached 36.78 feet by early Thursday afternoon, causing the Henderson County Road Department to close and barricade a dozen roads. Nearly as many roads were closed as of midday Thursday in Vanderburgh County. In Warrick and Posey counties, the river was already well above flood levels.
