A Life in Lyrics: Paul McCartney plays second fiddle on his own podcast
Paul McCartney’s podcast series A Life In Lyrics (Pushkin) arrived this week. The presenter is Paul Muldoon, the Irish poet and professor who collaborated with McCartney on his 2021 book The Lyrics; this podcast is based on recordings of their conversations. So we have two Pauls — and in your darker moments you might wonder if this is a load of Pauls. Or at least one Paul too many, because Muldoon is here, there and everywhere, whereas McCartney is not exactly a Nowhere Man, but certainly in the minority as far as airtime is concerned.
