Highway 17 is now open to one lane of traffic just east of Vermilion Bay. A crash near Waldhof Road completely closed the Trans-Canada around 7:00 am There is now alternating traffic in the area and motorists can expect delays. On scene reports indicate the collision involved three tractor-trailer units. That hasn’t been confirmed by police. There was debris spread across both lanes resulting in a lengthy clean-up. A corrections officer has told a coronial inquest he wasn't properly trained to conduct admissions interviews.

A corrections officer of 15 years has told the inquest into Adelaide man Wayne Fella Morrison's death he received less than a day's training to interview and process prisoners upon their admittance to Yatala Labour Prison.  Kym Golding told the inquest that staff training is lacking, and there exists little oversight; Mr Golding was only removed from admissions intake duty after a second death in custody.
