HENDERSON, Ky. — Henderson city officials said they're taking a conservative approach to finances as they work toward a 2021-2022 Fiscal Year budget. During a two-hour special-called meeting Tuesday, city commissioners were presented the proposed $78 million budget, which is a roughly $3.4 million increase over the 2020-2021 budget. In pre-pandemic times, non-profit arts and culture organizations in the Puget Sound region punched above their weight. They generated more than $2.4 billion a year and created tens of thousands of jobs. Now, one year into the pandemic, many of those organizations have closed for good.
