e-cigarettes: Refrain from doing research on e-cigarettes, obtain prior permission from ministry: NMC

The National Medical Commission (NMC) has instructed doctors affiliated with it to avoid initiating or participating in research activities related to e-cigarettes and heated tobacco products (HTPs) without obtaining necessary approvals from the Union Health Ministry. The directive follows a letter from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) to the NMC, highlighting the ban on e-cigarettes and HTPs in India under the Prohibition of Electronic Cigarettes Act, 2019.
