Michigan State University will enter the next phase of lifting the enhanced physical distancing directive, according to an email from Senior Vice President for Residential and Hospitality Services and Auxiliary Enterprises Vennie Gore.
The next phase allows students to participate in approved two-person activities at the IM buildings, including table tennis, badminton and pickleball. Additionally, main lounges, bike rooms and the reflection room in Butterfield Hall reopened at 5 p.m. Friday, the email said. ....

EAST LANSING, MI Michigan State University is lifting a two-week enhanced physical distancing directive and will use a phased approach to reopening that will be modified on a week-to-week basis.
MSU issued the directive on Jan. 31 as COVID-19 cases on campus continued to rise. It is being lifted at 11:59 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13.
Although the university is seeing a slight reduction in positivity rates in the on-campus community, it has not met a safe enough level to fully lift the directive, according to a letter to students from Vennie Gore, interim vice president for student affairs and services, and David Weismantel, a university physician. ....

Nearly a thousand health care workers in Ingham County are getting Pfizer s COVID-19 vaccine every week.
Health Officer Linda Vail says so far, the state has provided her department with 975 doses of vaccine a week. They’re getting an extra dose out of some vials.
She says the staff and the schedule would allow for more. “We did ask for the double, 1,950 doses this week, and didn’t get it, Vail adds, but we will be asking again, and I’ve also made a few phone calls.”
Vail says the department is vaccinating 350 or more people per day, and could double or triple that if they had enough vaccine. ....
