I thought it would be helpful for our discussion to consider the wisdom and experience of four prominent conservatives in the field of U.S. foreign policy.

And advisors: As many of you know, Ed Feulner joined the Administration for a short while at the beginning of the year-and his help and advice were invaluable-but he wanted to get back to Heritage. He knows where the real power center in Washington is.

Language can lull Americans to sleep in this new war, or it cankeep us on the offensive and our enemies off balance. Preciserepresentations of the terrorists, their ideologies, and theirvictims' lives and deaths will help us to win the war onterrorism.

There are no permanent victories in democratic politics and no permanent defeats. Thus, even as conservatives in the United States are working to find better ways to present our ideas in the 2014 and 2016 elections, we should pause a moment to celebrate some successes overseas.

It's easy to get a bit complacent on the security front these days. We've gone seven years without a terrorist attack on U.S. soil, and we're seeing progress in Iraq as well. But we still live in a dangerous world.
