With renewable energy use becoming more widespread, Indiana state lawmakers gathered Wednesday to discuss how it should be regulated. Their recommendations mainly have to do with safety. For example, some of the push for renewable energy is encouraging the use of large battery storage. State Representative Ed Soliday says with some large lithium batteries prone to catch, fire they need to make sure they are located away from putting people in danger. They also have recommendations on having back-up plans in place in the event renewable energy sources are cut off.

As Indiana looks to form an energy policy of the future, not everyone is in agreement on how much of a role fossil fuels will play in that equation.
