Lower Slaughter man who had indecent images of children spared jail | Wilts and Gloucestershire Standard

A 39-YEAR-OLD Lower Slaughter man caught with indecent images of children as well as extreme pornography involving animals was handed a suspended jail term on Thursday (May 6) and ordered to do unpaid work for the community.
Donald Godfrey of Fosse Way, Lower Slaughter, pleaded guilty at Gloucester Crown Court to possessing 43 Category A images and videos of children, the most serious category, 19 images of Category B and 8 of Category C.
He also admitted having 19 extreme pornography images.
Prosecutor Ehsanul Oarith told the court that on March 18 last year, police received information that someone at Godfrey s address was uploading indecent images on Kik. ....

Sex offender breached court order by playing Facebook game

A CONVICTED sex offender breached his sexual harm prevention order by playing Facebook games, a court heard.
Then while on bail for flouting the court order, David Lawrence spent almost £2,500 on a neighbour’s credit card. The female neighbour had given him the card to buy food for her cat, which he was looking after while she was in hospital.
Following representations from Lawrence’s lawyers and noting the 49-year-old had significant learning disabilities, Judge Jason Taylor QC imposed a hospital order under section 37 of the Mental Health Act.
Lawrence had been handed a sexual harm prevention order in 2018 after he admitted chatting online to a “child”. His ex-partner turned paedophile hunter and posed as a 15-year-old girl. He sent her intimate images and suggested they meet. ....

A DRUG addict caught driving a purple Toyota while banned from the roads claimed his friend had been behind the wheel – but reclined the driver’s seat and scarpered when they saw police.
Lee Turner, whose record includes stints behind bars for firearms offences, robbery and a stabbing, was jailed for eight months at Swindon Crown Court this morning.
The 32-year-old was found guilty by magistrates last month of possession of a blade and driving while disqualified.

Prosecutor David Maunder told the court two police officers had been parked up at the Chiseldon service station in the early hours of October 21 last year when they saw a purple Toyota Urban Cruiser pull into the garage. It lurched forward before stopping, as if the engine had stalled. ....
