The MEWSIC system has been designed to detect radar signals over an extended area and will be built by a consortium consisting of Babcock, Elbit Systems UK and QinetiQ.
This major contract brings together 27 individual contracts into a single construct worth approximately £1 billion.
Having been deployed at these sites since 2022, over 300 service personnel have been trained from both the British and Allied forces, including those preparing for immediate front-line deployments.
The announcement follows the successful role out of the programme which has seen almost 100 training events to date this year.
The new Centres are in addition to Elbit Systems UK’s recent investment across the UK including the opening of the new site in Kent, and a new manufacturing facility in Bristol, with investment in staff and sites in the last five years totalling over £30 million.
