Despite the thunder and lightning, the outage that left many Cody residents without power was caused by a raccoon - for the fourth or fifth time.

The reason for that power outage was not blistering Wyoming winds or any sort of precipitation, but instead, a raccoon. The little critter got up into the WAPA substation up on Glendale near Beck Lake according to Dane Austin, Electric Superintendent of the Cody.
