Bonnie Pierson never envisioned a library career. Her initial plans revolved around working in print media like magazines or newspapers, before a later interest developed in public relations work. But a part-time job at the Elgin Public Library in the mid-1990s gave Pierson a taste of life in the library, one she returned to at the turn of the century in Bastrop and hasn’t left since. On Jan. 11, Pierson’s library career entered a new chapter when she was announced as Bastrop’s new library director. Pierson assumes the position after the November departure of Becca Sexton, who had served as director since July 2019. ....
