The father, a Christian, was upset that his 16-year-old daughter had been ordered to wear an Islamic headscarf at her public school in Indonesia. He met with the school’s vice principal and protested the rule. And he didn’t stop there: He streamed their conversation on Facebook Live.

– A video with a duration of more than 15 minutes recently viral on social media in Indonesia, as it sparked anger and discussion on the issue of religious persecution. The video was secretly recorded by Elianu Hia, the father of a non-Muslim student named Jenny Hia. In the video, the student’s parents are seen arguing with a teacher at SMKN 2 Padang (a vocational school) regarding the regulations on the use of the hijab in public schools for non-Muslim students. Elianu protested against the school for repeatedly forcing his daughter Jenny to wear the hijab even though she is not a Muslim.

A video of an argument between a Christian parent and a teacher at a state-run vocational high school that recently went viral on social media has raised concerns over religious freedom in Indonesia s mainstream educational institutions.
In the video, Elianu Hia, a Protestant, took issue with a school rule that required his first-grade daughter to wear a headscarf.
