She shared what itâs like at 17 living in a violent household for 15 years until her mother died.
âMy mom was murdered by my stepfather in 2009,â Medina told guests at the recent Homeless to Home at Plantation Golf & Country Club in Venice. âMy mom attempted to leave several times in her 15-year marriage . When I realized we were finally leaving I was overwhelmed.â
Monica Medina, author of the new book âThe Third Return,â shares the story of how her mother was murdered after trying to leave a 15-year violent relationship. Medina now volunteers for the Safe Place And Rape Crisis Center in Sarasota helping survivors of violence.
