The 14th annual Wayne County Antique Tractor Drive will be held on Labor Day, Monday, September 5. All tractors that are model year 1992 or earlier (30 years of age or older) are welcome to participate. The route will begin and end at Vaughan Equipment Incorporated, located at 908 South First Street (Route 45) in Fairfield. Planned tours during the drive include Junkyard Art by Tam-I-Am and Scarbrough Trucking. The annual Elm River Chowder is set to take place this Saturday, September 3rd. The event will be held four miles east of the Rinard crossroads, with the cost of the meal by donation only. The soup is scheduled to be dipped around 12:30, and volunteers are welcome for vegetable preparation. There will also be live music and door prizes. Claren Lee Hosselton, age 78, of Clay City, IL, passed away on Thursday, December 9th, 2021, at his farm in Clay City, IL. Claren was the son of (Leon) Cletis Hosselton and Wilma Fern (Pierce) Hosselton born on January 9th, 1943, in Clay City, IL. He attended grade school at the Wells School on the Clay/Wayne County Line 2 miles east of Big Four Road. He graduated from Clay City High School where he held the hurdles record for numerous years.
