The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) in India conducted a test of the country's new emergency alert system. Mobile users received an emergency alert on their Android and iPhone devices, which included a loud beep and a flash message. The purpose of the test was to evaluate the effectiveness of the system and identify any potential issues. The alert was transmitted through the Cell Broadcasting System (CBS), which allows mobile operators to send text messages to all phones in a specified area.

FEMA and the FCC will carry out a test of the emergency alert systems on October 4. They will not turn you into zombies. Probably.

A nationwide emergency alert test is scheduled for Wednesday at 1:20 p.m., testing cell phones (WEA) and radios/TVs (EAS) to ensure effectiveness in warning the public about national emergencies.
