Emergency Management Minister David Littleproud says Queensland has a “very limited scope” in options for purpose-built quarantine which are in close proximity to tertiary facilities.
On Friday National Cabinet agreed a requirement of purpose-built quarantine facilities was that they be within a one-hour drive of a principal referral hospital.
“There’s very limited scope in terms of Queensland, as I understand it, in terms of tertiary facilities,” Mr Littleproud said.
“So that’ something the Queensland government would have to go back to the drawing board on.
“Again, this is something that the states bring forward.
“The federal government simply look at these proposals once they are brought forward because quarantine is a shared responsibility despite what the Labor Party is saying that we own it all”.
