Steelworkers ratified a new contract at the Cleveland-Cliffs' mines that supply iron ore to Northwest Indiana's steel mills.
According to Cleveland-Cliffs, which owns the United Taconite and Hibbing Taconite mines in Minnesota, the agreements are effective starting Saturday, Oct. 1.
As part of the agreement, Cliffs will invest $4 billion in USW-represented facilities across the company, not just in Minnesota, over the contract's term.
