After some reflection, Marfell said: “I have decided to give the $500 to the Marlborough Youth Trust Cactus programme, as it s about working together and having a physical challenge that gives you some confidence.” Marfell added that she thought this was appropriate as it encompassed the spirit of the race. “It’s a privilege to have a chance to do it, and it’s such a cool experience, because the people around you are all there for the right reasons and everybody’s having a challenging day and everybody supports each other.” ....
