Whitehaven mum-of-two's charity challenge in memory of dad Brian Glaister

“It had a huge effect and we had to all go through counselling.
“It was a long road to recovery for dad when he returned home, and we all had to quickly adapt to the sudden change in our lives.”

Brian was forced to take early retirement from his job as a sewerage operator. He required use of a wheelchair to get around and needed round-the-clock care.
Thanks to the support of his family – including Michelle’s mum, Margaret – Brian was slowly able to build up his strength and was able to walk again.
But in September 2020, Brian suddenly fell unwell and was rushed to hospital.

Joseph Rowntree Theatre set to reopen with new season of shows

Dan Shrimpton, chair of trustees at the Haxby Road theatre, said the priority would be safety.
He said: “We’re thrilled to be staging live shows once again and welcoming audiences back through our theatre doors. We’ve missed the buzz of putting on a show and can’t wait for opening night.
“We’ve worked hard to make sure our theatre is Covid-safe. The new procedures and processes we’ve put in place have all been tried and tested. Our priority is to make sure your theatre experience is a safe one.”
On reopening night, May 21, at 7.30pm and the next day at 2.30pm and 7.30pm, the Bev Jones Music Company will present Strictly Cabaret.

Yoga is just right for restoring the balance after a really crazy year, Rosemary Miller says.
She and two other Whanganui yoga teachers are taking turns offering classes outdoors at Pākaitore/Moutoa Gardens until January 4. The classes are free and suitable for anyone.
They start at 9.30am and run until 10.45am. People can bring their own mats or use the grass and they can pay with a koha.
