Apr 16, 2021 FORT WORTH – Senior Anastasia Webb captured the individual all-around national championship and the Oklahoma women s gymnastics team advanced to the NCAA Finals with a 198.0875 in semifinal action. The Sooners finished in first place in the second semifinal of the day to make their eighth straight and 10th overall appearance in the team finals. The Sooners posted the top score of both rotations inside Dickies Arena. I really felt like their minds were in the right place, head coach K.J. Kindler said. This was probably our best two weeks of preparation the whole year. We had a lot of things to cover in terms of filling the holes of Karrie Thomas since regionals so there was a lot of work to be done. Oklahoma s Emma LaPinta named Big 12 co-Scholar Athlete of the Year in gymnastics The junior from Frisco, TX, is the 14th Sooner to win the league s most prestigious academic-athletic honor Author: Oklahoma junior Emma LaPinta was recognized for her commitment in the classroom as the 2021 Big 12 Gymnastics Co-Scholar Athlete of the Year, the conference office announced Wednesday. A native of Frisco, TX, LaPinta is the first Sooner in program history to receive the award, which was created by the Big 12 prior to the 2012-13 academic year. LaPinta shared the honor with junior Alexis Vasquez of Denver. LaPinta, a communications major, boasts a 4.0 GPA and 90 percent participation in 2021. She is a two-time Academic All-Big 12 First Team honoree (2020, 2021) and a 2019 Academic All-Rookie selection. LaPinta is also a two-time WCGA Scholastic All-American. ....

OU’s incredible night included a perfect score from Olivia Trautman as the Sooners notched a 198.175 to take home the Tuscaloosa Regional title. OU has now won 11 straight regional crowns under head coach K.J. Kindler. OU Athletics Alabama placed second with a 197.575 to also advance to the NCAA Championship.
