Last week McGuckin informed Derg boss Ivan Sproule that he had signed a pre-contract agreement to join Premiership outfit Carrick Rangers next season. The club subsequently took the decision to release the former Coleraine forward despite the fact that this coming weekend they face the Mallards without a number of regulars through injury.
