PNP chief orders crackdown vs. illegal vehicles

Rodolfo Azurin Jr.(Screengrab from PNP Facebook live video) MANILA - The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Saturday ordered the Highway Patrol Group (HPG) to intensify operations against vehicles without plate numbers and those with improvised ones. PNP chief Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr. made the order as part of the anti-criminality campaign and traffic violations in the wake of reports that a white van is allegedly being used for kidnapping. The report has been verified by the National Capital Region Police Office to be untrue after the supposed victim admitted to fabricating the story that three men on board a white van tried to kidnap her in Caloocan City. PNP seeks removal of 'fake, recycled' crime socmed posts

This came after the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG) validated social media posts on crimes, where it found out that an accompanying photo of an article posted on the social media page of Angono Rizal News Online was actually taken from the Facebook page of the San Mateo Municipal Police which was created in July 2020. In a statement, ACG chief Brig. Gen. Joel Doria said the image was edited and intentionally posted to attract more followers. Doria said based on their investigation, most of the videos about attempted rape, abduction, and alleged missing persons circulating online were found to have happened years back and were already resolved by the PNP.
